About Literacy Council of Benton County
?We are a nonprofit 501(c) corporation created to provide free literacy training to adults age 18 and over. We train volunteer tutors and provide them with teaching materials and support resources. We offer programs in Adult Basic English and English as a Second Language. Our students set personal goals and their lesson plans are designed to help them achieve proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English at a 9th grade level.Services
English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language (ESL) is designed for adults 18 and over who do not use English as their native language.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)
Adult Basic Education is designed for adults 18 and over who use English as their native language. However, they may lack confidence in their reading, writing, and speaking at a level necessary to function at work or in social situations.
